A widespread internet breakdown disrupted telecommunications across the United States on June 19, with more than 45,000 users losing access to wide-band services.
The disturbance was particularly serious in Colorado, where local users of quantum fibers and other suppliers have experienced major connectivity problems.
The failure has affected several main suppliers, including CenturyLink, Quantum Fiber and Brightspeed, and lasted more than two and a half hours, making it one of the most important high speed failures in recent months.
The monitoring of platform panels such as Down Detector have indicated that more than 35,000 CENTURYLINK customers have been impacted nationally.
Quantum fiber, a large -band service based on fiber widely used in Colorado, has experienced more than 17,000 reports. Brightpeed, a smaller regional operator, also reported more than 3,000 service problems during the same period.
Breakdown reports came from several states, which suggests that the problem was not limited to a region.
Users have described a complete loss of connectivity, slow navigation speeds and intermittent services drops throughout the day. The residents of Colorado, in particular in the metropolitan region of Denver, seemed to be among the hardest.
Thursday evening, none of the companies concerned had published detailed statements clarifying the underlying cause of the failure.
Silence has caused a new frustration among customers, many of whom went to social networks and Internet forums to seek explanations and bypass.
CenturyLink and Quantum Fiber are both operated on Lumen Technologies, which manages inherited copper networks and new fiber infrastructure.
Brightpeed, once part of the Lumen coverage area, now operates independently in 20 American states.
@CenturyLink is nationally and they refuse to do an article on this subject. A simple “we live a national breakdown and currently resolving it” would be good, but they say nothing about it.

Although the service was largely restored in the middle of the afternoon, the incident aroused concern about the stability of the large-strip national infrastructure. With more companies, schools and essential services that rely on uninterrupted Internet access, such breakdowns have important implications.
The disturbance also rekindled the discussion on property transitions and service provision models in the American telecommunications sector. Industry analysts claim that the consolidation of infrastructure – such as the recent acquisition of quantum fibers – often brings investment and operational complexities.
The authorities have not confirmed whether the failure was caused by a technical failure, a maintenance error or an external threat. Affected customers are advised to check directly with suppliers of any potential remuneration or tracking support.
