Tehran:

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sentenced new US sanctions on its oil network on Wednesday, describing the decision as a sign of “hostile approach” of Washington before a third cycle of nuclear talks.

In a statement, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmaeil Baqaei, said that Washington’s policy to impose sanctions on the Iranian people was a “clear contradiction with the demand for dialogue and negotiation of the United States and indicates the lack of good will and gravity of America in this regard”.

On Tuesday, the American Treasury Department imposed sanctions on an Iranian maritime network and an individual named Asadoollah Emamjomeh, who, according to Washington, is the owner of the network.

He said in a statement that the network was “collectively responsible for the shipment of hundreds of millions of dollars in Iranian and crude oil on foreign markets”.

“Emamjomeh and its network have sought to export thousands of LPG expeditions – including the United States – to escape American sanctions and generate income for Iran,” said Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

“The United States remains determined to hold those who seek to provide Iranian regime with the funding it needs to continue its destabilizing activities in the region and around the world.”

The sanctions occurred after Tehran and Washington held two cycles of indirect nuclear talks on Saturdays following Muscat and Rome, from April 12.

Since his return to duties in January, US President Donald Trump has reproduced radical sanctions under his “maximum pressure” policy against Tehran.

In March, he sent a letter to the Iranian supreme chief of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei calling for talks, but also warning against a possible military action if they did not carry an agreement.
