On the weekend of the PBA stars, a basic food of each season and one of the ways in which the league connects to its fans outside the metropolis, could be in limbo after the event behind the province of Davao was postponed due to “security problems”.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said he was working on finding a replacement site in the next two to three weeks in the hope of recovering the mid-season classic, but admitted that it would not be the choice to cancel the event if things cannot be set.
“We have taken into account what is best for everyone to decide to postpone the stars weekend,” said Marcial en Fililippin during Wednesday double header at Smart Araneta Coliseum which started with the rain or the beating sun the Arvin Tolentino-Sans Northport, 113-96.
Marcial did not take much details on the postponement, but it obviously comes from the political tensions which came after former president Rodrigo Duterte was arrested by a mandate issued by the International Criminal Court.
The uncertainty surrounding accommodation in the province of origin of Mr. Duterte developed in the weeks that followed.

Although Marcial does not have the possibility of canceling the annual event, which would only mark the fourth time since the All-Star was institutionalized in 1989, the League has worked on a potential replacement site in the Visayas region if the discussions take place on the right track.
Marcial did not disclose the new place possible, but he has had previous experiences that host the All-Star event.
“If things cannot be settled in the next two weeks or after Holy Week, the stars weekend will probably be canceled,” said Marcial.
The first time that the All-Star did not take place in 2002, while editions 2020 and 2021 to 2022 never took place because of the pandemic. The show returned in 2023 to Passi City, Iloilo, after the softening of locks during the Pandemic of Covid-19, while last year’s edition took place in Bacolod City.
Meanwhile, coach Yeng Guiao hopes that the victory over Northport will help to mitigate what could be the obstacle that the rain or the brilliant will face the Philippine Cup with the Beau Belga veteran due to Vertigo and Keith Datu breastfeeding an injured right calf.
