The opinions of Queen Elizabeth II on royal weddings were often deprived, but a royal expert recently revealed intriguing details on the reflections of the late monarch on the marriage of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

In My mother and meThe royal biographer and editor -in -chief Ingrid Seward discusses the alleged reactions of Queen Elizabeth at the wedding of Meghan and Harry in May 2018, revealing that the monarch had a subtle but sharp remark concerning Meghan’s wedding dress. Seward claims that the Queen told the nearby Lady Elizabeth Anson that the Meghan Givenchy dress was “too white” for a divorced to remarry in a church. According to Seward, the Queen thought that the choice of the dress of an all white design was inappropriate in such circumstances, adding a layer of traditional royal sensitivity to the vision of the late monarch.

Although it is the superb Givenchy dress from Meghan, designed by Clare Waight Keller, which has become emblematic, with a boat neckline and a veil decorated with the diadem of the Sapphire banner by Queen Mary, the queen would not have been also enchanted by the “Disneyesque show” of the event itself, although it was not directly confirmed by the monarch.

The Queen’s opinions did not stop there because she would also have shared a critical point of view on the royal marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton. A lip reader deciphered the comments made by the Queen after their marriage in 2011. After the ceremony, the queen would have been heard by saying: “I wanted them to take the small car”, which seemed to suggest a preference for a less extravagant display. Queen Camilla would have answered, recognizing that the day “went very well”.
