A victory against the Hong Kong Hing Hing Hing Hing Volleyball team in their last elimination match on Tuesday will send the next round of the 12 -team continental tournament.
“We have to change our mentality and go to the next match. We have to stay together as a team as much as possible,” added Van Sickle, who finished with 13 points, including 11 attacks and two aces.
Petro Gazz Import Gia Day led to 16 striking attacks for a total of 18 points. But the angels seemed far from the team that amazed the 10 times Creamline Champion for the Tout-Glipino title a little over a week ago.
Their 28 unl forced errors helped to mitigate the Taiper path, which has capitalized on host team errors with clinical efficiency.
Hsu Wan-Yun and Peng Yu-Rou led the Taiwanese load, following their hip hing scan with another dominant victory to reserve a quarter-final place.
Faced with a potential scan, the angels retaliated in the third set, entering the momentum while Taiicower fogged. Linen errors Cai-Zhen and Hsu allowed Van Sickle to strike with a powerful cross to put Petro Gazz 21-17.
Van Sickle, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Joy Dacoron then combined to finish the whole, with Van Sickle sealer with an ace.
Limited practice
“I will not say that it is a pressure (from the championship). It is a different tournament. Yes, we won the championship, but we have evolved,” said Van Sickle. “Tonight we are going to watch the film and shake it. The first match is over – kidnapped and will move on.”
Taipower gathered in the fourth set and took control behind Huang Ching-Hsuan and Hsu. A stock -tone transversal area pulled by Peng and an attack in the execution of Huang opened an advance of eight points, also extended by the consecutive errors of Day.
MJ Phillips briefly gave the Angels of Hope with a quick peak and a block to fill the gap at 22-18, but Remy Palma’s service error in Match Point sealed the loss.
Day, who experienced a limited training time with the angels, does not go too far into defeat.
“I think it’s also my first international tournament, so I’m really excited to play with a different style and also see many different styles in volleyball, I think it’s a beautiful thing,” she said. “As Brooke (Van Sickle) said, the teams of this tournament are really good at playing together and finding their rhythm as a team, so I think it’s something we can learn and be really excited.”
“I sort of accepted the challenge, so I am excited for what the future has in store for us and I am really grateful that they have invited me to come here.” Inq
