Liverpool have opened an investigation into the situation of Barcelona midfielder Gavi. According to Catalan outlet Nacional, the Reds are looking to bring the 20-year-old to Anfield.
He appears to have fallen down the pecking order at Camp Nou under Hansi Flick. The German appears to prefer teenager Marc Casado and Pedri in the double pivot, leaving Gavi relegated to an option primarily used off the bench. He has made 12 appearances this season but has only found 241 minutes of action.
Thus, he has emerged as a possible transfer option for several clubs, including Liverpool. His contract is set to expire in the summer of 2026. With the report stating that there have been no discussions between the player and the club about extending his stay, he could find an exit at a relatively cheap price.
Gavi intends to stay at Barcelona, hoping to impress the manager and fight for his place. However, if he decides to leave, the Reds want to add him to the team. The report suggests that manager Arne Slot highly values him and the club could offer him a high salary to make him one of the most highly regarded players.
The 20-year-old would join a talented midfield including Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Curtis Jones.

Barcelona are keeping tabs on Liverpool winger Luis Diaz. According to Spanish media Mundo Deportivo, the Blaugrana want to add the 27-year-old striker to their ranks.
However, the Colombian is expected to stay at Anfield. His current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2027, but the Reds are looking to sign him to an extension soon.
The contract situations of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk will likely be higher priorities for Liverpool as they are set to become free agents next summer. Following this, they could look to lock down the Colombian who has played a vital role in Arne Slot’s attack this season.
Diaz was used both on the left wing and up top, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in 22 games in all competitions.
He could be a key addition to a Barcelona side that has been chasing Nico Williams to play on the left side of their attack. While Raphinha has proven to be a revelation under Hansi Flick, the addition of another experienced striker could come in handy for the Blaugrana.
