Coach Sherwin Menesses have never avoided let people know that he has just inherited from the newly built tradition of women’s volleyball excellence from the National University.
He once praised the balance and grain of the Lady Bulldogs in the Final Four, when a re -emerging power has almost overturned them with their noble pole.
And now that they live a rehearsal, playing another side which is very impatient to destroy its bulldogs, Messes has seen another side in its neighborhoods. And he did not let go of words by telling everyone.
“I think that naked showed something better tonight-Heart,” he told The Inquirer on the heels of an authoritarian triumph 25-17, 25-21, 13-25, 25-17 Triumph on the hall in season 87 of the title series before a noisy crowd at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“The room, since then, has always been competitive because their recruitment is solid … (but that of our players) has shown (in this game)”, continued Messes when he continued to distribute himself the merit of the prolific projection of his crew led by Vangge Alinsug.
The opposite striker of the third year paved the way with 21 points, allowing the Lady Bulldogs to set the tone very early and blurs the fight of the Lady Spikers after the fight before 16,000 howling fans.
Loss of development
Except for a momentary loss of development in the third set, the Bulldogs were on firm order throughout the match which lasted less than two hours.
And although grateful for the result, Alinsug has supervised victory following the work they have taken in recent days.
“This is the most important-the game 1. Our six days of training (for this moment) have shown results,” she said.
The skipper and the title MVP Bella Belen had 17 points to go with 15 digites and 10 receptions, his triple double coupled with a brilliant effort from Alinsug just to put a team from Lady Spikers, determined to bring together what they had hoped to be a replay of their season 85 of season 85, where they swept the Bulldogs for the title.
Angel Canino paid 22 points and added 13 receptions, while Shevana Laput collected 11 others. But the duo could not take advantage of the lukewarm offensive performance of Alyssa Salomon at the other end, while the Bulldog Star finished with only nine points.
And with the role of the room, the players barely have an impact, the Taft team completed under the relentless rhythm of their enemy, and will have no more appeal than to win this Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City if they hope that their season extends.
Messes, for its part, is already competing.
“We know the room. They will not go easily,” he said. “Their combat spirit is something else.”
But, knowing the capacities of his players, Messes did not chop his words. Especially with the Lady Bulldogs on the edge of what could be the very first consecutive reign of the school.
“But we are ready for the upcoming pressure. Whatever gender,” he said with a smile. Inq
