Beijing: China and Thailand published a joint declaration on Saturday, committing to strengthen cooperation in reprimand on online scam operations, human traffic and drugs and money laundering.
Online scam operations have tormented many Southeast Asian countries, including Myanmar, Cambodia and Thailand, becoming increasingly rampant in recent years. In these operations, people attracted by false advertisements for well -paid jobs are treated in secret compounds, where criminal groups force them to execute online scams targeting victims worldwide, including in China.
The two parties underlined the urgency and the need to improve cooperation to combat these transnational crimes. They agreed to continue discussions to establish effective coordination mechanisms to combat these crimes at an early stage and promote judicial cooperation between the countries of Lancang-Melong.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen military exchanges, joint training, collaboration in the defense industry, capacity building and technology transfer to promote regional peace and stability.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic links of China and Thailand. In their declaration, the two parties undertook to deepen cooperation in high quality development, clean energy, digital economy and green growth. They aim to stimulate bilateral trade by expanding market access, promoting high quality products and improving the collaboration of electronic commerce.
In addition, the two parties highlighted the importance of connectivity in the conduct of regional economic integration and shared development. They agreed to strengthen cooperation on the belt and road, including the China-Thailand rail project, to improve regional connectivity.
