The Palestinian resistance group Hamas said on Monday that it was ready to get involved in negotiations immediately to reach a lasting cease-fire in the Gaza Strip.

The group’s army wing, Qassam’s brigades, published the hostage of Israeli-American Edan Alexander on Monday evening after discussions with the Trump administration.

“Hamas is ready to immediately start negotiations to reach a complete agreement for a sustainable ceasefire, the withdrawal of the occupation army, the end of the seat, the exchange of prisoners and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip,” he said in a statement.

Alexander was the last hostage in the United States known in Gaza.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Alexander’s release came thanks to the military pressure from Israel to Gaza and political pressure by Trump.

The Israeli chief said he spoke with Trump on Monday and that the American president expressed his commitment to Israel, according to a statement from the Netanyahu office.

Netanyahu said there would be no cease-fire and that plans to intensify military action in Gaza continued.
