WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump unveiled a “revolutionary” trade agreement on Thursday with Great Britain, the first agreement with any country since he launched his world prices Blitz.

The agreement reduces prices on British cars and lifts them in steel and aluminum, while in return, Great Britain will open markets to American beef products and other agricultural products.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer also praised him as a “historic day”, although the agreement is thin on the details and the two parties said that there would be more negotiations.

A 10% reference rate on Great Britain imposed by Trump as part of the “Liberation Day” samples from the world that he also announced in April.

Trump said the British agreement would be the first of many and that he hoped that difficult talks with China and the European Union could soon produce results.

“I am delighted to announce that we have concluded a trade agreement with the United Kingdom,” said Trump speaking with Starmer by phone from the oval office.

“The agreement includes billions of dollars of increased access to the market for American exports, especially in agriculture.”

The agreement occurred at the last minute, Starmer saying that he had learned that Trump had given him his approval when he called him on Wednesday evening when he was watching a football match.

“It’s a really fantastic historical day,” said Starmer during the call with Trump.

He noted that this coincided with the 80th anniversary of the “Victory Day” for the Allied forces – including Great Britain and the United States – on Nazi Germany during the Second World War.
